Jaime is working on reconstructing the blog. It's really in need of something more appealing, now that the template designer can be used. Expect it to look a little--errmmm--out of place and strange for a while!

Contacts For Courtney

Guess what?!  Forget about guessing; I'll just tell you.

Yesterday, I went to the eye doctor.  I haven't been in about 5 years, so...  Yeah, it's been a while.

They ran through all the tests and told me that my eyes had hardly changed at all.  They also said that my eyes would be perfect for contacts.

The man who examined my eyes had actually offered me tinted contacts in the case that I wanted to change my eye color, and although I really like blue eyes, I figured getting those kind of contacts would be like trying to be something I'm not.

Not to mention, God made me who I am, and I wouldn't want to change that.  And so, I went with the clear contacts.  =)

Once the man had finished checking my eyes, he sent me to this lady who showed me how to put my contacts in.  I thought it'd be kind of hard to get them in, but it was a snap!  =D

The lady was all like, "I love you...  You're so easy.  Some people take hours...."

Once I got my contacts in, the lady told me all about how to take care of them and gave me a bag with some starter supplies.

I also picked out new glasses while we were in there.  They're different than the ones I have right now, but they aren't bad.

Took me a while to pick 'em out though.  The lady kept giving me all these different pairs of glasses, most of which looked really WEIRD on me.  O.o

I'm pretty happy with the ones I picked out though...  And I'm ESPECIALLY happy about the contacts.  I've been waiting YEARS for these things!!

I can hardly even feel they're there.  It's almost like I can just automatically see.  =)

Well, I guess that's it for now.  Later!

Highway Driving

I got to drive on the highway for the first time a few days ago. It was pretty sweet! Buuut...at the same time kind of freaky!! Especially since you have to go like...SIXTY...FIVE...MILES...AN HOUR.... =O

Dad said I did pretty well. Even getting on and off the ramps and changing lanes, I did pretty well.

There was only one point that I almost crashed into a mail box coming home... But that wasn't on the highway!!

-Courtney-

Oh yeah, and I forgot to say! I got my learner's permit card in the mail!! AND...I LOOK...HORRIBLE!!! My face looks kind of fat for some strange reason... =/

And my signature is TERRIBLE! My scribbley "Y" isn't the only thing that's wrong.

Driving... O.O

Dad took me driving today. We (Dad, Will, Jaime, and Me) went down to my old elementary school (Highland Springs Elementary), so I could practice.

Dad even let me drive part of the way home. I kind of turned too far when turning onto Washington and crossed the double line....which then made me turn way too far the other way and roll over a pile of snow.

But overall, I think I did pretty well for my second time. Didn't run into anything at least...

Dad says I drive too fast on the turns. I also tend to forget to look in the mirrors... And how can I pay attention to the speed and the road and the mirrors and Dad's instructions all at the SAME time??!!!

Driving

Hey guys! Guess what? A few days ago Dad took me down to my old elementary school (Highland Springs Elementary School) to try some driving. It was awesome! I got to drive the Cavalier around the school parking lot.

Had to get used to the turning, but it wasn't too difficult. Drove about 10 mph most times. Started going up to 20 for a short while.

Once when I turned, I turned to sharply and ran the back wheels up the curb. =/

Dad told me to try to park at one point, so I attempted to turn into the parking space, however, I ended up ON the line instead of BETWEEN the 2 lines. Woops!

So, yeah, that was my first driving experience....well...except for the little go-carts I've ridden in when I was younger, but those don't count!

Meez Music Video (Smells Like Birthday Cake - Tim Hawkins)

Hey, Guys! Yesterday, I spent hours putting together a music video on the song "Smells Like Birthday Cake" by Tim Hawkins using video clips from Meez (Meez.com). Little by little I captured the video clips and added them to the song using Windows Movie Maker. Well, in the end it turned out so good that I figured I'd share. Ok here it is. Hope you like it! ...and don't forget to tell me what you think!!!!

Braces (They're Coming Off!!!!)

That would be brace face down there. =)‡)

Guess what?! I should be getting my braces off by the end of the summer!!!! ...along with Will (so wrong). Any hoot, that's all I've got to say. I'm really happy about it!!!

I'm going to have to choose between a plastic retainer and a metal retainer. I think I'm going to go with metal when the time comes to choose. It may allow my teeth to move a bit more, but at least it won't get all filthy inside.

Get The Salami!

I totally forgot about this event. It happened about a month ago.....

Courtney was running around with a slice of salami, teasing Annie. I was trying to write something and I was sitting in the middle of the living room floor. Annie was chasing Courtney's salami and running through my papers. I got mad and screamed at Courtney to stop teasing the dog. Mom told Court to stop, but I guess Court didn't hear. I kept screaming at Courtney and Mom kept telling her to stop. Finally, Mom walked up to Courtney and yelled at her. "You wanna play get the salami! Get the salami!" Mom said, as she dropped the Courtney's slice of salami on the floor. Annie, surprised, froze for a moment before eating the salami. Will stood across the living room, wide-eyed. I thought it was kinda funny looking at Courtney's surprised look. Court tried to make an excuse for why she did what she did. But Mom would hear none of it. I think Courtney learned a lesson that day---NOT to tease Annie!

Black Belt Testing (Alexa, Emily, and Erin)

NOTE: This first part, although just now posted, was actually written on the 19th of December.

There's a Taekwondo testing going on tomorrow. Emily and Erin (both girls), the twins, will be testing for their black belts. Alexa will also be testing for her black belt. Emily and Erin are somewhere around 15 and 16. Alexa, judging by her height, is probably around 13 or 14. I'm going to help out. I'll probably mostly be partnered with Alexa for grappling, free sparring, 3 steps, etc. Judging by how long it took for my black belt testing, I'd say it'll probably go from 1 o'clock to 3 or 4 o'clock. That'd be from 2-3 hours. That's the only thing I'm dreading. I'll let you know how it goes when I get back.

Ok here's how it went. In the very beginning, Mr Simpson, the Taekwondo instructor, lined everybody up and introduced all of us black belts; besides me, there were about 10 other black belts. Most of whom had tested for their black belts around the same time I did, July. After that, the testing began. They went through a few warm up stuff first. After that they did paddles, which is where you do these certain memorized moves on the kicking paddles. I (and everyone else who was there), then watched all three girls do their forms for 30 minutes to possibly and hour. (A form is basically a series of kicks, punches, and blocks put together in a certain order. The girls each had about 11 of these to memorize for their testing.) Everyone did great on these.

After that they went into self defense and other things. There were about 20 different self defense moves the girls had to go through, but it didn't take half as long as those forms took. I got called in to do the boxing drill with Alexa for a few minutes. Pretty soon they went through 3 steps. I, again, went with Alexa. (3 steps are where 1 person acts as the attacker and throws some stuff at the other person who has to try to deflect the blows or step out of the way and throw some kicks, punches, etc back at them.)

Pretty soon they went through grappling. Alexa went with someone else for this part. Then there was also free sparring. I free sparred with Alexa here. I love free sparring! (Free sparring is similar to sparring, but you don't actually hurt each other.) The testing finally ended, and the girls were each rewarded for their efforts with a black belt, some punching gloves, grappling shorts, a sword, and a framed certificate. They were awesome! They were going to have a celebration afterward, but Mom, Mommom (my Grandmother), and I were so tired by this time that we were ready to leave. Before we left, however, I congratulated Emily, Erin, and Alexa. Finally, at 4 o'clock, we drove off, headed home. It had been a loooooooong day. Well, that's about it.

PS: Mommom kept dozing off in the middle of it, but she never missed a clap. LOL.

Dreams......

Dreams.....It's strange that even while you're sleeping your brain is still working. Dreams work in the strangest of ways. For instance, you may have one dream where everything is like a play or a skit and you can redo the scenes in your dream, whereas, you may have dreams where everything seems very real, dreams where you are running for your life, being kidnapped, etc.

I've had many different kinds of dreams. I've dreamt that I was a completely different person; I've dreamt dreams where I'm me one minute and someone else the next. I've dreamt of bugs living in my skin that only came out when I got hot (particularly when I was in bed under the covers). Weird! I've even dreamt of places that had bathrooms that had toilets and sinks strewn hopelessly around the room without stalls or anything.

One time I dreamed that my old school teacher, Ms. Mead who was my teacher in 1st & 2nd grade, was into strange, mystical ideas (If you get my meaning). We had, in my dream, driven over to her "house" after she (and some other lady in the cult) had invited us over to discuss religious beliefs. Boy, did that place give me the creeps! Even in my dream, I could feel an evil presence (not that it really was an evil presence that I felt, it just seemed like it in my dream).

Another time I dreamed that Mom ran our Trail Blazer off a cliff and into a lake of some sort. It wasn't really scarey though 'cause we all floated towards the water very sloooooooooooowly.

It seems to me that now all my dreams are controllable. I can create for myself a villain and then simply toss him to the discard pile, or I could just have myself beat 'im up or......well, you get the picture. It's kind of strange because everything in my dreams can change just like that. I could be running for my life one minute, and the next be playing tag with some little kid.

I don't believe I've ever had a nightmare in my life. Don't get me wrong, I have had some freaky-ish dreams but nothing you could really call a nightmare. God has been really good to this family, protecting our minds from Satan's grasping talons.

Sleepwalking is one of the strangest types of dreaming. Your mind is stuck in another world while your body is back in the real world. I don't believe I've ever sleep walked in my life, but it sure would be an adventure, don't you think? My brother has done it a few times.

Mom and Dad said that one time, when Will was 4 or 5 maybe, he, in the middle of the night, walked into their room and started pressing buttons on the TV. When asked what in the world he was doing, Will replied with a, "I'm trying to get a drink!" After several unsuccessful attempts, Will simply gave up on the "soda fountain" and returned to his bed, the fire in his parched throat had yet to be quenched. Pretty weird, huh?

That reminds me.... Have you ever had a time when you were half asleep and all of a sudden it's like you're falling, and then you "hit the bottom" and jump awake? Do you understand what I'm trying to say? Sorry, but it's kind of hard to put into words. Ever had that happen to you? It's happened to me a few times....it's really....weird... I don't know any other way to explain it.....

Well, I reckon I'll be done writing for now, but if you care to tell me of some of your dreaming experiences, feel free to write me at EivarlostOfEverlasting@gmail.com. What's with my email address? Who's Eivarlost?

Pretty stupid really.... I liked the word everlasting, took 'everlast,' changed a few letters, added an 'i' and (walla!) Eivarlost. Stupid? ......Mom hates the name..... Why, you ask? ...because she thinks it sounds like 'everlost.' Maybe it does. I...I still see it as only a name though. She seems to think otherwise. I don't know that she's right, but I don't know that she's wrong either. If God shows me that it's wrong, then fine I'll let the name go, but if it's just a name, and no harm in it, then....I don't know.

I really like it because, well, it's so unique. It's a name that noone in all the world has ever thought of but me. I just want a name for myself. Different, unique, so that I'm the only one with it. A name is special, and that's why I like it. Plus, heh, it's got all my favorite letters in it: 'a', 'e', 'i', 'o', 's', and 't'. What's so special about them? I don't know. I only see Eivarlost as a name with no meaning. Come to think of it, my full name has all of those letters too. Not that it has any meaning....

Sorry, I'm rambling on about things of no importance. I'll stop now. God bless and good night! ....or day if it is that where you live...lol, sorry.

My Parable-Type Writings

There was a beautiful flower that
died and blew away. When it died,
it left seeds behind. The seeds
grew and became even more brilliant
and beautiful than the first.

The first flower is like someone
who died for Christ. A person who
was not ashamed and who boldly
proclaimed the gospel. When
he/she was killed, others
were grafted into the family
of Christ. They were given
courage and boldness after
the first gave up his/her life
for Christ. God can take even
the worst circumstances and
use them for good.

Parents are like the covers of a book.
Children are like the pages of the book
and God is like the binder which holds
everything together. Without God,
you're incomplete. God keeps us
together.

Christians are like canoes, and God
is like our paddles. He steers us
away from sin and towards our
future home with Christ.
Unbelievers are like canoes
without paddles; they drift
off into sin and finally destruction.

We are like trees. Satan and his demons
are like wood cutters who try to cut us down,
so they can throw us into the fires of hell.
If we call upon God, he will save us.
If we hold fast to Him, then Satan
and his forces of evil will not cut us down.
We must hold onto Jesus, otherwise
Satan WILL chop us down.

We, Christians, are like different types
of automobiles. God is like our motor;
He keeps us going, but if we don't
fill our gas tanks with the
Word of God, the Bible, we won't
be able to go anywhere. We
may be saved, but we won't grow
in our relationship with Him.
Anyone who loves God WILL want
to grow in their relationship with Him.
Both prayer as well as reading the
scripture are very important
in keeping our relationship
with our Savior.

Some people say that God
doesn't answer their prayers,
but he always answers prayer.
He does so in several different ways
such as: yes, no, wait, or for an
unbeliever, I can't hear you!
God answers the prayers of
true Christians, but rejects the
prayers of those who are
living their lives in sin.
Sin separates us from Christ.
We MUST REPENT of our sin
and follow Christ in
righteousness and truth,
FORSAKING our old man and
living our lives as examples
of Christ.

Jesus is our ticket to heaven,
but if we lose our ticket because
of sin, we will not be saved,
and we will go to hell unless
we repent and repurchase
our ticket.

Unbelievers are like filthy pigs;
they have the time of their lives
eating garbage and rotten food.
They roll around in their sin,
thinking they're just fine the way
they are, but when Farmer Satan comes,
they are slaughtered and feasted upon.

But those that are saved
are like sheep, protected by
Jesus, the good shepherd.

Toying with little sins is
like playing with matches.
Soon your whole life will be
caught on fire, for a few small
sparks can quickly become
a raging fire. If you repent
and call upon Fireman God,
he will put out the fire
and save you. You will
get burned if you play
with sin, but if you repent,
God will save you.

God is like our Commander.
He commands. We obey. When
He tells us to do something, we do it.
If anyone is not being obedient to
Christ, then he/she is NOT a
follower of God. We may
make mistakes, but if we
are living lives of sin, then
we are NOT Christians.
1 John 2:3-6 says:

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

We are like unexperienced sailors. We try to
steer our lives away from sin, but we just can't.
When we get saved, Jesus takes over and steers our
lives in another direction. He leads us into
righteousness and truth rather than sin and
lawlessness. When we're ready, He hands the
steering wheel to us, and gives us a map, the Bible.
We must follow the map so that we do not steer
into sin which will eventually lead to our deaths.
We must follow and do everything the way the map
tells us to, otherwise we may not make it to our
destination, heaven, where we will have
everlasting life with Christ, our savior.
