Jaime is working on reconstructing the blog. It's really in need of something more appealing, now that the template designer can be used. Expect it to look a little--errmmm--out of place and strange for a while!

Summer Camp Ad

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew about any good summer camps that a 12 year old, 16 year old, and a 17 year old could all go to.  I want a Christian camp that is CHEAP.  I looked up Christian summer camps and almost all of them were 300 to 1000 dollars at LEAST.  The cheapest one I found was 125 to 300 dollars a week.  I would like a camp that costs about--I dunno--50-75 a week because there are three of us kids.  PLEASE leave a comment if you know of any.  I REALLY want to go to summer camp this year.  Court and Will have done it but I couldn't.  At the time I was too little.  So, once again, PLEASE comment if you have any suggestions.  Thanks

Highway Driving

I got to drive on the highway for the first time a few days ago. It was pretty sweet! Buuut...at the same time kind of freaky!! Especially since you have to go like...SIXTY...FIVE...MILES...AN HOUR.... =O

Dad said I did pretty well. Even getting on and off the ramps and changing lanes, I did pretty well.

There was only one point that I almost crashed into a mail box coming home... But that wasn't on the highway!!

-Courtney-

Oh yeah, and I forgot to say! I got my learner's permit card in the mail!! AND...I LOOK...HORRIBLE!!! My face looks kind of fat for some strange reason... =/

And my signature is TERRIBLE! My scribbley "Y" isn't the only thing that's wrong.

Driving... O.O

Dad took me driving today. We (Dad, Will, Jaime, and Me) went down to my old elementary school (Highland Springs Elementary), so I could practice.

Dad even let me drive part of the way home. I kind of turned too far when turning onto Washington and crossed the double line....which then made me turn way too far the other way and roll over a pile of snow.

But overall, I think I did pretty well for my second time. Didn't run into anything at least...

Dad says I drive too fast on the turns. I also tend to forget to look in the mirrors... And how can I pay attention to the speed and the road and the mirrors and Dad's instructions all at the SAME time??!!!

Driver's Test For Learner's Permit

Hey guys. Well, Mom and I went on down to DMV today, so's I could take the driver's test for my learner's permit. First time going and I was shaking like a leaf when we first got in there, I was SO nervous. Of course, that was probably mostly due to the cold. We got a tid bit of snow last night, so it was kind of cold.

Well, we got into the place and went to the information desk like the sign said. Then I told the guy why I was there, and he gave me a chart to fill out as well as a number thingy that they would use to call me up. It was something like F708... Yeah, the dude at the counter seemed a little skeptical about mine and Mom's ages at first. Lol.

After gathering all the stuff, we went to sit down. Well, I filled out everything in my horrible handwriting... Then we just sat there for awhile... After what seemed like forever (and I was about to jump out of my skin!!), they finally called me up. "F708 to counter 12!" Well, I went on up there, and the lady there tested my eyes. Passed that. Then she snapped my picture. Told me to look at a red square of duct tape for that...

I also had to sign my name on this little computer-like thing-a-ma-bobby that had a certain kind of pen... Yeah, I think you understand. I KINDA...messed...up... My "y" looked like a bunch of scribbles. But whatever...

When that was all done the lady ran through the instructions for the test...blah...blah..blah... I already pretty much knew what I'd have to do for that. It was this touch screen computer. There were 10 questions for the traffic signs (which you HAVE to get ALL right otherwise you FAIL), and then there were 25 questions for general knowledge (you can get up to 6 wrong for that).

Well, I went up to the computer (#4 to the right). They had this phone attached to the side so you could hear what was being said on the screen, but I figured since I could read, I didn't need it. Well, I aced the test for the traffic signs.

Then I came to part 2: General Knowledge. Wasn't too sure about the 1st (or maybe it was the second), so I skipped it (they said you could come back to it later). Went through all the questions and....PASSED!!!

I got about 3 or 4 wrong, 2 of which had to do with drugs and alcohol... Guess I wasn't too sure how much a...whatever they called it...measured in ounces....and then something about what happens if you mix drugs and alcohol... Yeah, well, I'm not too concerned about that.

I never got to come back to that skipped question, but my theory is that that was because even if I failed it, I STILL wouldn't have failed the test. So I guess they didn't think it mattered.

So yeah...got my permit. They should be sending the I.D. card or whatever it is in the mail, along with some paper saying I can drive. I think it's pretty cool that I passed first time. I'm so RELIEVED. Can't wait to see how dumb I look in that picture they took of me! And my scribblely "y"!!

Driving

Hey guys! Guess what? A few days ago Dad took me down to my old elementary school (Highland Springs Elementary School) to try some driving. It was awesome! I got to drive the Cavalier around the school parking lot.

Had to get used to the turning, but it wasn't too difficult. Drove about 10 mph most times. Started going up to 20 for a short while.

Once when I turned, I turned to sharply and ran the back wheels up the curb. =/

Dad told me to try to park at one point, so I attempted to turn into the parking space, however, I ended up ON the line instead of BETWEEN the 2 lines. Woops!

So, yeah, that was my first driving experience....well...except for the little go-carts I've ridden in when I was younger, but those don't count!

Family Reunion

We went to the family reunion yesterday. It was pretty cool. Got to see the cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We went for a picnic in the park.

After we'd finished eating, we went over to the merry-go-round for a bit. Jaime, Will, and I spun all the kids around. Went a little too fast for Trevor (he's our 6 year old cousin); he kept falling off. Silly kid thought he could hang over the edge and not start to fall off. Luckily he only really fell off when we slowed down. I had to pull him up one time.

After that, we all headed down by the water. There was this little wall that you had to climb down (it was slanted). Aunt Becky was freaking out about Rodney (he's about 12 now). Even when he was just on the rocks below, she was freaking out, telling him he was "going to fall". Lol. Funny thing was, she didn't seem to pay too much attention to Taylor (6), and I hear she's the clumbsiest of them all!

Pretty soon, we headed back to the house and went swimming in there pool. Taylor (6) wouldn't go in the water though because she didn't "want to be splashed". Will thought it was actually because she didn't want to wear her floaties. He might be right about that one.

Still, we wore our floaties when we were that little. That reminds me of the time we were there many years ago when I put on like four (heavy duty) tubies (I was like 6 or 7), and then leapt into the pool expecting to go under a bit and then shoot up. What happened was the bottom tubie went under about and inch, and I just sort of floated there, deflated by my failed experiment. Haha. =)

Trevor (5) was so funny at the pool. He walked up to the water and looked into it like he was scared, then, all of a sudden, just jumped on in. Then he burst out of the water waving his arms around yelling, "I'm swimming!! I'm SWIMMING!!". Haha. He's a little drama king if you can catch my meaning.

After drying off, we kids decided to go over to the neighbors' house to jump on their trampoline. Our grandfather said it was alright, so we went. It was pretty fun. No net though, so we had to be careful.

Pretty soon it was time to leave. The drive there and the drive back, I can tell you, were horribly loooooong. And the traffic! Well, it's over now. Tired....

Worthy Is The Lamb - Paul Romano (Meez Music Video)

My friend Paul wrote a song, Worthy Is The Lamb, some time ago and sent me the MP3. Well, just recently a put together a music video for it using short video clips of my Meez character. Here it is if you'd like to see. (The song is the best part!)

Stitches!!!!

Jaime has to go to the doctor to get stitches! They (Mom, Will, and Jaime) are heading to the doctor right now!

This is what I hear happened: Will and Jaime were riding their bikes down a hill (hardly big at all, Jaime says). Jaime was in front and Will was behind. Well, when Jaime got down the hill, there was this hole (she didn't see it), and she ran her bike right into it, hit her leg on some piece of the bike, and flew off.

Now her knee has this small, but deep cut in it, so she has to get stitches. I'd say, she's not too happy about it, but she's tough. When she first got shots (she was like 4 or 5), she didn't cry at all.

So, yeah, she's the first one of us kids to ever have to get stitches.

Meez Music Video (Smells Like Birthday Cake - Tim Hawkins)

Hey, Guys! Yesterday, I spent hours putting together a music video on the song "Smells Like Birthday Cake" by Tim Hawkins using video clips from Meez (Meez.com). Little by little I captured the video clips and added them to the song using Windows Movie Maker. Well, in the end it turned out so good that I figured I'd share. Ok here it is. Hope you like it! ...and don't forget to tell me what you think!!!!

Braces (They're Coming Off!!!!)

That would be brace face down there. =)‡)

Guess what?! I should be getting my braces off by the end of the summer!!!! ...along with Will (so wrong). Any hoot, that's all I've got to say. I'm really happy about it!!!

I'm going to have to choose between a plastic retainer and a metal retainer. I think I'm going to go with metal when the time comes to choose. It may allow my teeth to move a bit more, but at least it won't get all filthy inside.

The Slip

Jaime and I went for a bike ride over to the tennis court. Well, we decided to toss some water on the (what do you call it?) shuffleboard, so that we could slide across it. Once we poured the water on, Jaime and I began sliding; it was so fun!....until....

Jaime ran in to slide across the shuffleboard, and she must not have been ready for it because she slipped backwards and went sliding across the shuffleboard on her back a few feet. The sight was, to tell you the truth, hysterical, and I couldn't help but laugh.

Jaime wasn't too happy about it all. For one thing, her entire back was soaked. Also, there were kids walking down the road, and she didn't really want to be seen like that.

We decided to race home. I went behind her so nobody could see her soaking wet back.

Board Breaking Video

Hey, everyone! Jaime tested Saturday (in Taekwondo) for her advanced red belt. She did awesome as usual, and I managed to get some great board breaking clips with my digital camera.

For the next few hours of the day, I spent my time editing this video which I've posted below. Hope you enjoy!

Let's Keep It Simple: Today

We (the family and I) did ALOT today. I'm so worn out....not sleepy...just worn out.

First, we went to Three Lakes Park with the Grims and Madisons. We went to the playground, played tag and all. Then later on we decided to take a walk on the trails. We saw a tree frog, a blue heron, and LOTS of turtles in the water. We kids also did a bit of exploring through the woods. We also took a look around the - what do you call it? - nature....building...thingy. Sorry, I completely forgot what in the world it's called! It'll come back to me...eventually.

Later on, at around 6:00 I believe, we left for the Wassenberg's house. They had invited us over for dinner, and Dad was going to fix their - Dad was going to fix something having to do with heating or air conditioning or something. I don't really know; I didn't pay attention.

I know I had fun. We had a delicious dinner of potato chips and dip. Lol just kidding! We had hamburgers and hotdogs, chips and dip, pasta salad and regular salad, etc. It was good! ....especially the chips and dip...Oh, and the carrot cake was delicious too!

We also did a quite a bit of jumping on the trampoline. I love trampolines! Pretty soon, it was time to go, and everyone went inside. Right before we left, we listened to Alexis play a song on the violin. She did really well! Then as Hannah (I believe it was) began to play the piano, we had to leave. =-(

It's been a loooooong day. Tomorrow is probably going to be a lazy day for me....hopefully...unless somebody wants me to do something (like cut the grass). I'm just going to have to lay low. ;)

(This is probably extremely rambly. Sorry about that.)

The Scooter

Jaime has been waiting for this day for a loooooong time. It's finally come. She finally got what she was waiting for, her 4 wheeled scooter which is her birthday present this year. (She's 11 since the 19th!)

Ever since we went to Toys R Us together to let her pick out a birthday present, Jaime has, of all the toys there, desired the 4 wheeled scooter most. Unfortunately because of her birthday being right after Christmas, the store was all out of the scooters, all except for the one that was for show.

Mom and Dad had to order it for her instead. Ever since then, Jaime has been eagerly awaiting its arrival. And today it came! Here are some pictures.

-Courtney-

BTW: Jaime has been given some other gifts from me and Will (candy of course!), and Alexis (Jaime's best friend) purchased her a knitting kit. Alexis' older sister, Hannah, wants to teach Jaime how to knit! So that'll be cool. She also got some money from relatives.

Trimming Annie's Mile Long Nails

Annie, much to her dismay, had to get her nails trimmed today. She absolutely hates it. Of course, I'm sure she likes it better than getting a bath. She shivered and kept trying to squirm away. Will had to hold her to keep her still. Here are some pictures below.

Can you tell she's nervous?

Oh...PLEASE DON'T!

Attempting to squirm away.

Uh-oh here it comes!

Not my back feet!

Ahhh! Torture! Lemme GO!

How embarrassing... No pictures!

NOOOOO!

Annie managed to knock Will over and escape to....

The couch! I'm on base; you can't get me now!

...Or maybe you can....

I'm done. To the kitchen for my treat!

Excited! (she gets like this after a bath too)

This isn't a squat; I'm running!

Treat please!

Uploading Pictures

I just uploaded some pictures for something I wanted to write about today, and I was amazed to find that there were 451 pics (not including one really bad one of Little One that I cut)! It's actually still saving right now so...... It'll probably take a while, so............ Well, that's it!

The Digital Camera

As you may know from reading one of my posts on Christmas, I received a digital camera. Above is the exact model. Of course, it isn't my camera that's being shown, just the model. I love it! I've found out alot about how to work it. It's actually pretty simple. It sure takes alot better pictures than my VC (video camera) does. I've taken quite a few pictures already, practically all of them being of my family. Jaime and Will were getting kind of annoyed at my taking pictures of them, though. Of course I had to take pictures of something to test it out, right? Yeah, so I love it. Got to get some pictures of Will doing kickflips or something on his skateboard. Here are some of the pictures I took between Christmas and today.

Dad at the Computer

Mom Chewing a Tootsie Roll (lol she looks so funny)

Will (look at them dimples!)

Jaime Uncovering the Chocolate Pudding Pie (Christmas Dessert)

Annie, our Adorable 10 Year Old Puppy, Sleeping with her Bone

Here's Annie Squinting at the Bright Flash

One of my Puppets, Terrance (this was just a test pic)

Another Test Pic on Jaime's Puppet, Nate

One of my Lovebirds, Spanky, Peeking out from the Bed Mom made for him and Fruity

Fruity, Spanky's Girl (if you know what I mean)

Little One (Faithful), Fruity and Spanky's Daughter

And Last but not Least, the Unexpected Visitor I found on my Bedroom Floor on Christmas Night

There are alot more photos, but that's good for now.
